A Million Worlds with You Firebird Claudia Gray Books

This was the third (and final) book in the Firebird trilogy. While I didn’t like it quite as much as the previous two books, it was still very well written and engaging. It did an excellent job of tying up the series.

The Triad is still out to destroy the multiverse and they have decided the best way to do this is take out all the other Marguerites in all the other parallel dimensions. The Triad is using the Marguerite known as “Wicked” to inhibit and kill the other Marguerites. That leaves our Marguerite with the task of running from dimension to dimension trying to stop Wicked. In each dimension Marguerite finds herself in a potentially life-threatening situation and has to escape out of it in order to prevent that dimension’s collapse.

In general Marguerite is visiting dimensions she’s already visited in previous books; I kind of missed the introduction of new and unique dimensions...this was my favorite part about this series. There is also a lot of uncertainty between Paul and Marguerite because of the splintering of Paul’s soul across multiple dimensions.

The above being said, I still really enjoyed how everything was so neatly wrapped up. I loved how people had to cooperate across dimensions to stop the Triad and how huge the whole thing gets. I also enjoyed the excitement and urgency whenever Marguerite jumped into another Marguerite and had to save her life.

Overall I enjoyed this series. It was incredibly creative and very intriguing to read. The whole series is well-written and engaging. I would recommend to those who enjoy books about science fiction and parallel dimensions.

A Million Worlds with You Firebird Claudia Gray Books Reviews

It was really good- but I have a lot of feelings some of them mixed.

The plot was just as wack as the first two which honestly is what makes this series so good. You can literally land anywhere - any universe/dimension/country... LITERALLY anywhere. This book is no exception- you'll get to visit some wild places. It picks up right where book 1 left off, and there are no unanswered questions. The first chapter will seem a bit out of place - but just go with it.

Honestly, I understand why people like Paul but I was just not feeling him as much. Marguerite was in a constant mental battle over him and I got a little tired of her drooling and going on and on about the guy. I don't hate him, but by golly I was over them two. That being said, (again, I really don't hate him..) but he was so completely unstable and I'm just not a fan of staying in unstable relationships. Don't get me wrong- I'm all for the "stick by the one you love" mentality (I've been with my husband for 10 years - married for 4 of those years.) But when you're in the dating arena, hanging around emotionally unstable men in those conditions can be toxic.

I also must add that all the journeys and dimensions got pretty confusing. Claudia did a pretty good job of keeping me on track for all that she threw at me but it was still a lot to take in and I found myself having to take several mental breaks.

Overall Impression...

Even though I'm not 100% happy with the ending, I still really love this series. Plus, I caught Claudia's twitter message when she says "Feel free to ship any of my characters. There are multiple dimensions and anything is possible!" So, I'm taking her advice, and I'm going to live in my little world of denial that there is any universe that Theo and Marguerite aren't together. Hah, seriously though- this is a fantastic series.
This is exactly how this series should have ended!! Everything finally comes full circle and the characters/dimensions finally get their stuff together. Marguerite's adventures continue as she navigates more freely and far more organized than before while battling her evil alter ego. This just makes the story far more compelling (because after all who doesn't have a dark side). While I find Paul to be the most infuriating character I have read in a book in quite some time, Marguerite is able to navigate around him and bring him back to a single reality allowing him to finally find himself. Once they end up together I had to admit I was exasperated and happy because if anyone deserves the boy it's definitely her (I mean she DID put him back together). I love that she finally accepts her talent and stops seeing herself as less because she's not a science nerd and she embraces her artistic talent enough to go to the school of her dreams.
Final book in the Firebird trilogy.

Sadly, I didn't really enjoy this one. There's quite a bit of loss in the first half, and while I could empathize with grief and rage, Marguerite just spends a lot of time feeling hopeless. As a reader, that's not how I want to spend my time. And the last part of the book feels really rushed, as if the author just threw a bunch of stuff out to be done with it.

Bottom line, my enjoyment went down with each book. I do recommend and will definitely reread the first, A Thousand Pieces of You, but I will probably treat it as a stand alone, and skip the last two books completely.
I have recently discovered that I have a thing for books about the multiverse.  Something about the unknown, about the possibilities... that excites me.  This book, this series, did exactly that.  I loved the world that the author built and how she changed it between the various multiverses.  I also loved the mechanism she used to tie the worlds together.  By mechanism, I don't mean the actual Firebird, but how she makes those worlds accessible.

There is a lot of science involved in this series, but it is presented in such a way that it explains what it needs to without being anything like a lecture.  It also is the perfect tool to create villains and heroes.  The science behind travel between the multiverses is something that has lots of implications and applications, some with less positive ramifications.

This has been such a fantastic series, so beautiful.  And I am so sad that the ride is over!  This is a series I highly recommend for anyone who loves a thought-provoking, exciting read!
