When I think of all the books I have read, Wet Desert stands out among my favorites. Enjoying the excellent writing of Gary Hansen left me waiting to see what his next book would bring. At the start of Second Revolution I has my doubts that I would finish it knowing that I had no interest in the story that was unfolding; BUT, true to his abilities Hansen was able to grab me and hold me in place to the final words with interest plus. That in itself should be enough to applaud Hansen's ability with an avid reader.

My title says it all. The book may give you a whole new outlook on many aspects of politics, war, responsibility and participation in your country's welfare and future, even if it's only to take a look around and be aware.

This is a quick edit addition: Hansen's note at the end of the book is "the best" author remarks I have yet to read so don't pass it by, enjoy.

I loved his Wet Desert. This is a completely different story about an ordinary man in the right place at the right time to become involved in major events.

While I really enjoyed the story, and it well portrays the reasons for the second amendment, the added religious references seemed forced. They weren't the focus of the story or of the character development, and were somewhat off-putting the way they were inserted throughout. Fast paced action and an everyday hero, combined with social commentary make this book a worthwhile read.
This book couldn't have come at a better time in America's history. While the author does not condone the type of violence depicted in the book, this is a wake up call to all Americans. Read this book, and think about the message, not the actual acts. it's time for the American people to take back this country from ALL corrupt politicians, enact term limits, remove Congressional retirement plans and lifelong medical benefits, and get back to the Constitution writers goal, a government for the people, by the people, without a ruling class.
WOW, this one is so fast paced and interesting I couldn't put it down. Exciting and scary in ways that surprised me. I'm usually in favor of SOME gun control, but found myself wondering if maybe its not a good thing. With what's happening on the political scene these days it wouldn't surprise me a great deal to see something like this actually happen and that scares me a lot.
I finished reading 'The Second Revolution' yesterday and am already looking forward to reading it again! It's that awesome. Viewed through the eyes, heart, and mind of an average guy, events evolve quickly into our nations second revolution. This novel reveals the passion and courage it would take for American citizens to rescue their country from the steel grip of a corrupt government. 'The Second Revolution' is a work of fiction, right now. That might change in the future. Would you have the courage to stand up to preserve the Constitution and Bill of Rights, for what's Right? There was no question for the brave Americans in this book.
This book was much better than I had hoped. I was quite intrigued by the premise, but hoped that it wouldn't be watered down. Hansen did not disappoint...the book keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The author clearly goes out of his way not to impugn either major party or segment of the electorate by having the rogue president be an independent elevated from the vice presidency by the death of the current president. However, he is able to make clear that if gun control advocates get their wish, there will literally be nothing to keep the government from making us mindless, bleating sheep. Hansen is certainly on to something when he sees a major shake up in America's future, and he presents his argument in a not only convincing, but also unputdownable, way.
Although some of the dialog was somewhat trite or redundant the plot was excellent and entirely believable. I don't know that a "second revolution" would play out as it did in the book although it wouldn't be impossible. I can see this scenario happening in our country and I can only hope there'd be as many step up to stop it as did in this story.

I did enjoy this story line and seeing it play out to a positive ending politically. I'd recommend the book to anyone I wanted to think more about where our country is headed and what can easily happen before we realize it.
This is a new author for me, and a new genre. I absolutely loved it. I tend to avoid most male authors, because they write more about subjects that I personally do not like. I really did not expect to like this, but as I ways need reading material, thought I'd give it a try. I'm really glad I did. I am looking forward to getting his other works. This book will make you think. It will also make you nervous, because it could one day be this bad. We could one day be forced to act, in order to save our country, from the likes of a Singleton. I would hope we would be smart enough to not elect someone like him, but face it we are America, and tend to act as if this could never happen here. We tend to take politicians at face value and believe all of their 'promises', e enjoyed though we should know better. Read this book!!! Then you'll understand true fear.
